Why Jessa Duggar Seewald Named Her Baby Boy Spurgeon

Jessa Duggar Seewald and her husband Ben have revealed the name for their newborn son, who was born on Nov. 5, the day after Jessa's 23rdbirthday.

The couple have named their son Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, they announced Wednesday on their family website.

In case you, like us, are intrigued by the particularly unique-sounding name, he is named for Charles Spurgeon, a British preacher who was considered the best-known preacher in England during his life in the 1800s. Ben revealed to Peoplethat Spurgeon is one of his personal heroes.

At the time the baby was born, the couple had not yet chosen a name, but Jessa added that she was partial to names "of heroes from the Christian faith....We want to give him a strong name, with a lot of meaning," she said.
