Maybe the Oscar curse doesn't just apply to Best Actress winners?

Jean Dujardin, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2012 for his performance in the silent film The Artist, is divorcing his wife of four years, The Daily Mail reports.

Dujardin, 41, who is a widely regarded comedic actor in his native country of France, confirmed his split from actress Alexandra Lamy on Wednesday at an awards ceremony. The news comes after months of heavy speculation about trouble for France's golden couple. "It has been eight months that tabloids have been trying to make me out as depressed, an alcoholic, a womanizer," he said according to the UK newspaper. "This is no more, or less, than the story of a couple who are separating, like any other couple."

More shocking celebrity breakups

The couple worked together on the French TV comedy Un Gars, Une Fille before falling in love and marrying in 2009. They more recently shared the screen in 2012's The Players. This is the second marriage for Dujardin, who has two sons with his first wife, Gaelle.

Dujardin will next appear in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street and George Clooney's Monument Men.
