Jaden Smith has his sights set on streaming.

The young actor and musician is the latest to join Netflix and Baz Luhrmann's hip-hop music drama The Get Down.

Smith will play Marcus "Dizzee" Kipling, a "psychedelically talented" graffiti writer from the South Bronx, the streaming service announced Tuesday.

"We as an audience have known Jaden since he was very young," said Luhrmann in a statement. "Recently, Jaden has been seeking diverse and challenging roles and this is a testament to his passion to grow in the craft. In the short time he has joined our acting family, he has begun developing his The Get Down skill set, even taking lessons from the legendary graffiti artist Lady Pink of 'Wild Style' fame, as well as steeping himself in the history and culture of the Bronx. We're all very happy with the casting of Jaden in the role of 'Dizzee' Kipling, and with his addition, the Kipling family cast is now complete."

Although it's a period drama, we hope that somehow, Smith will bring his unique style to the show.

Jimmy Smits to star in Baz Luhrman's Netflix musical

The Get Down will explore the birth of hip-hop, punk and disco through the lives of a rag-tag group of South Bronx teenagers in the 1970s. Luhrmann will executive-produce the series and also direct the first two episodes and finale.

Smith can also be seen in HBO's upcoming comedy Brothers in Atlanta.
