An Undead, Brain-Eating Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Joins iZombie's Final Season

Sure, why not?

Please give a warm welcome to the latest star to join The CW family... Kareem Abdul-Jabbar?!

No, seriously. The NBA legend has joined the final season of iZombie in a guest-star capacity because why the hell not?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Abdul-Jabbar will play Zed, one of the two City Council members who didn't flee after the zombie endemic broke out in Seattle. And while Zed is a zombie, his fellow council member is human -- but this won't be a cute Odd Couple situation. Apparently the two are so unable to compromise or understand each other's perspectives that city hall basically is rendered inert (this feels a bit too real, tbh).

The drama at city hall will likely only add to Peyton's (Aly Michalka) stress, given that with the mayor dead, she's now basically running the city on her own. But you know what, Peyton has handled worse. We're not worried about her.

And you shouldn't be worried about Abdul-Jabbar's ability to keep up with the super talented iZombie cast either. Hello, have you seen a little movie called Airplane!?! The basketball star-turned-culture critic has also showed off his acting chops by playing hilarious spoofs of himself several times before, including on Everybody Loves Raymond, Scrubsand The Crazy Ones. And we'd be remiss not to mention Abdul-Jabbar's best television credit, Splash, which was a reality show, sure, but showcased the athlete's natural charm perfectly.

iZombie won't hit The CW again until midseason, but until then, enjoy this photo of Liv (Rose McIver) and Councilman Zed.

KAJ ! 🏀 🧟‍♀️
