12 Years a Slave Tops Independent Spirit Awards

12 Years a Slave was the big winner at Saturday's Independent Spirit Awards. The front-runner for Best Picture at Sunday's Academy Awards won five awards, including Best Feature, Best Director (Steve McQueen) and Best Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong'o).

The front-runner for Best Picture at Sunday's Academy Awards won five awards, including Best Feature, Best Director (Steve McQueen) and Best Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong'o).

2014 Academy Awards: Who will win?

Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey took home the prizes for Female and Male Leads for Blue Jasmine and Dallas Buyers Club, respectively. Jared Leto was named Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas.All three are expected to replicate those victories at Sunday's Oscars.

The 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards were hosted by Patton Oswalt.
