Vudu offers viewers a wide selection of movies and shows, including recent hits such asA Quiet Place and Godzilla vs. Kong, as well as older favorites like Jurassic Park, The Office, and Friends

While there's a decent amount of free content, most of the movies and shows on Vudu are available to rent or own. So if there's something specific you want to watch, there's a good chance Vudu has it.

Amazon Fire Stick is one of the most popular streaming devices on the market, even outselling Roku in the U.S. You can download Vudu for the Fire Stick as an app on the device to start watching. If you're looking to kick back and rent a movie on Vudu, we'll walk through the basics to get you started.

What is Vudu?

Vudu is a streaming service owned by Walmart. Although it's never had the same name recognition as some of the other streaming services, the company has been around for years. Rather charging a monthly subscription fee like Netflix or Hulu, Vudu sells digital copies of movies and shows.

To access any of the content on Vudu, you'll need to sign up for an account. The account is free, but you'll be prompted to enter payment info. Once you sign up there's plenty of free movies and TV shows to watch. But as you might expect, the free sections on Vudu don't have much available in terms of many popular titles or new releases.

You'll find all of the best shows, biggest blockbusters, and brand-new titles on Vudu, but these are only available to rent or buy on the website. So Vudu has more in common with online stores like the iTunes Store than it does with services like Disney+ or Sling TV

You can watch Vudu on a streaming device, with a smartphone or tablet, or just using your internet browser. Once you purchase a title, you'll be able to stream it through Vudu. If you buy a movie or a show, you will only be able to watch it using the Vudu platform, which is definitely something to keep in mind.

In an age where we can stream all the shows we want for a monthly subscription fee, Vudu probably isn't the best bet as your main way to watch TV. But if you just want to check out a new release from the comfort of your own couch, Vudu often features movies at the same time as the theaters.

Vudu has no shortage of movies and shows for you to choose from. If you just want to try out the service before you buy anything, there are quite a few free titles you can watch. If you don't mind paying to watch a show or a movie, Vudu has tons to offer viewers. A few of the new-release movies Vudu has available right now are Four Good Days, Disney'sRaya and the Last Dragon, and Queen of Spades. Vudu also carries full seasons of recent hit shows like House Hunters, Top Chef, and The Flash

Vudu's film and show library is extensive, so you can find a lot more besides new releases. If you're looking for a classic to watch with the whole family, check out Tom & Jerry, Soul, or Hook, all of which are available on Vudu.

There are also great genre picks on the service. What to watch a sci-fi movie? You can try Ready Player One, The Martian, or Guardians of the Galaxy on Vudu. Or how about horror? Spiral, Jaws, and Annabelle are all available on the platform.

Vudu also features sales throughout the year, and these sales change all the time. A common sale Vudu offers is $5 movies on the weekend, as well as sales that correspond with holidays, like Mother's Day, Memorial Weekend, or the New Year.

Our Final Take

Amazon Fire Stick is a well-known brand of streaming devices preferred by many viewers in the U.S. If you're looking for an easy and inexpensive way to stream movies and shows from home, Fire Stick has many models you can choose from.

You can download Vudu on your Fire Stick device and sign up in a few minutes. After that, you'll have access to thousands of titles. But most of the content on Vudu is only available to rent or own. So Vudu probably won't work as your main streaming service. But if you just want to rent the latest blockbuster for a movie night and don't mind paying the rental fee, Vudu is a good option to try.
