Hollywood's most fun awards show is here
The 76th Golden Globe Awards are this Sunday! With TV stars Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg on deck to co-host the event and a slew of small screen and cinematic favorites in line for the night's shiniest prizes, this year's Globes is sure to be exciting.
Sure, there were some snubs and surprises within the list of nominees, but fans of shows like The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,The Americans, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Barry, Homecomingand Sharp Objects should be pretty amped to see whether these series and their stars will get to decorate their trophy cases this year. Oh, who is nominated for Killing Eve, has a chance to make history as the first Asian actor to win multiple Golden Globe awards if she snags the win for Best Actress in a Drama tonight. She previously won in 2006 for her work as Cristina Yang in Grey's Anatomy.
Meanwhile, TV icon Carol Burnett will also make history by receiving the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's first-ever Carol Burnett Award, which will "celebrate the highest level of achievement in the medium" of television.
On the film side, all eyes will be on the Globes to see what momentum some of these films and stars can pick up ahead of the Oscars. The most heavily nominated pictures include Adam McKay's Vice -- including acting nods for its stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Sam Rockwell -- as well as Bradley Cooper's buzzy remake of A Star Is Born. Other films to watch out for include Peter Farrelly's Green Book and Yorgos Lanthimos's latest, The Favourite. For those of you Widows, a 2018 breakout with critics and fans alike, wo
If you're wondering who will -- and who should -- win we've got predictions from our resident expert. We're expecting another good showing for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (which won big last year), and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story , which leads all TV nominees with four total nominations, should also have a big night.
Presenters for the evening include last year's film acting winners Gary Oldman, Saoirse Ronan, Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney as well as Chadwick Boseman, Sterling K. Brown, Taraji P. Henson, William H. Macy, Lupita Nyong'o, Octavia Spencer, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons.
In addition to all the awards being doled out throughout the night, the fashions are bound to be stunning as well, since the Globes tend to inspire some very lavish-but-cool red carpet looks. And if previous years' events are any indication, absolutely anything can happen on the notoriously low-key Hollywood celebration, so you won't want to miss it.
