The Florida Gators and Arizona Wildcats both made deep runs in the NCAA tournament last season, with Arizona falling to Duke in the Sweet Sixteen and Florida winning the National Championship. Now, the two top-25 teams are set to face off in their season opener in Las Vegas.
Arizona is one of the few teams on the Florida basketball schedule this season who may be able to match the Gators' size and athleticism. UF's towering trio of Thomas Haugh, Alex Condon, and Rueben Chinyelu are all back after anchoring the championship frontcourt last year. Meanwhile, the Wildcats' frontcourt is headlined by Koa Peat, a potential 2026 NBA lottery pick, and Motiejus Krivas, the 7'2" Lithuanian center.
What you can be sure of is that the Wildcats and Gators are both big, athletic, and well coached. Tommy Lloyd for U of A and Todd Golden for UF have consistently led their teams to winning records, conference championships, and NCAA tournament appearances.
