After some speculation, How to Get Away with Murder was officially renewed for a fifth season on Friday.

The show's creator Pete Nowalk tweeted his excitement, writing: "Season 5, we are coming for you! Thanks to all our fans." Nowalk also included several knife emojis in the tweet because this is a show that involves a lot of murder, after all.

The Season 5 renewal is a particularly exciting one for fans who were left on several cliffhangers in the Season 4 finale, including whether Laurel (Karla Souza) killed her mother and the introduction of a mysterious new character Gabriel Maddox (Rome Flynn)

Nowalk previously told TV Guide some of his plans for the fifth season, including a slew of new mysteries and a different type of flash forward. "I don't want to give away too much because I also could change my mind. But I think they're going to be more fun and a different tone, and it's something we've set up," Nowalk told us earlier this spring.
