Hilary Duff's father was sentenced to 10 days in jail for contempt of court on Wednesday,

The Houston Chronicle reports. Bob Duff was arrested for allegedly violating an order that prohibited him from selling assets without a judge's approval and the consent of his estranged wife, Susan, with whom he is in the middle of divorce procedures. Judge Thomas Stansbury of Houston has ordered Duff to pay $367,537 he received from selling stocks last month into a court repository. No court date has been set yet. Per Duff's attorney, the elder Duff plans to post bond and appeal the ruling. Stansbury also declared for Duff to pay $12,500 to fund Hilary's upcoming 21st birthday on Sept. 28. During the hearing, Susan requested $25,000 from him to pay for a party to match the blowout bash they gave older daughter Haylie for her 21st birthday in 2006. Neither Hilary or Haylie were in court. -
