Based on celebrity magazine covers, one would assume that after a woman gives birth, she miraculously wakes up the next morning with washboard abs and sun-kissed skin. The world then cheers about how this new mother "got her body back." But where did her body go? And what was wrong with the body she had for the past nine months?
As all mothers know, this is not how bodies work. And that's not a bad thing, as Hilaria Baldwin's latest Instagram post reminds us.
The yoga instructor and wife of Alec Baldwin shared a photo of her shrinking, but still very present baby bump, only two days after giving birth to son Rafael Thomas Baldwin in an effort to help women celebrate their bodies for what they do, not how slim and toned they can get.
"I have been planning on doing post belly photos but didn't know if I was gonna have the guts to actually follow through," Baldwin, 31, wrote. "I hope you understand my intention here: I believe it is important to accept and love our form after going through a bit of a battle bringing life into this world."
