NBC on Thursday unveiled a new 60-second trailer for its upcoming Heroes reboot, Heroes Reborn.
The network also revealed additional information about the 13-episode event series, which takes place a year after a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, left the city decimated. From Heroes creator Tim Kring, the show follows a group of people with extraordinary abilities who were blamed for the attack and are now on the run from others with sinister motives.
The group includes Luke (Zachary Levi) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni), a pair of vigilantes who are out for revenge after suffering a tragic loss; Noah Bennet, aka HRG (Jack Coleman), who has gone off the grid; and conspiracy theorist Quentin Frady (Henry Zebrowski), who finds HRG and enlightens him as to the real reason behind the attack.
Other characters include some people who are just discovering their powers. Tommy (Robbie Kay) is an awkward teen who just wants to be normal and win the girl of his dreams, Emily (Gatlin Green). Malina (Danika Yarosh) is a bold teenager who comes from a sheltered upbringing but has been told she's destined for greatness. Miko (Kiki Sukezane) is a young woman living in Tokyo who's trying to track down her missing father while harboring an extraordinary secret. Carlos (Ryan Guzman) is a former soldier who's emerging as a different type of hero, and Erica (Rya Kihlstedt) is the head of Renautas, a highly successful tech conglomerate, who has an agenda of her own.
The group also crosses paths with other characters from the original series, including Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis).
