Good news for fans of HBO's thrilling new crime drama The Night Of: there may be a second season.

The series, which follows what happens after Muslim college student Nasir "Naz" Khan (Riz Ahmed) is accused of murder, was originally conceived of as a limited, eight-episode run but producers are already considering how to bring it back.

"This was designed as a standalone piece," writer/director Steve Zaillian said in a panel at the Television Critics Association gathering in Los Angeles Saturday. "That being said, there are ways of certainly taking what it's about and doing another season on another subject. We're talking about it."

The Night Of, which is currently on Episode 3 of its eight-episode debut season, airs on Sunday nights at 9/8c on HBO.
