We have a premiere date and first trailer for HBO's forthcoming adaption of Stephen King's acclaimed novel The Outsider. Mark your calendars, the eerie series arrives Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020 at 9/8c with back-to-back episodes.

Per the official description, the series centers on police detective Ralph Anderson who "sets out to investigate the mutilated body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson found in the Georgia woods. The mysterious circumstances surrounding this horrifying crime leads Ralph, still grieving the recent death of his own son, to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney, whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable."

Ben Mendelsohn leads the 10-episode first season as Detective Anderson, while Cynthia Erivo is set to play Gibney, the P.I. called in to help Anderson uncover the truth of what happened to the young child found in the woods. The cast also includes Bill Camp, Mare Winningham, and Jason Bateman -- who directed the first two episodes -- as the accused murderer.
