HBO Orders Martin Scorsese Rock 'n' Roll Drama to Series

HBO has picked up your new favorite show to series. Currently untitled, the Rock 'n' Roll project is an hour-long drama set in 1970s New York that, according to the network, explores "the drug- and sex-fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all through the eyes of a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound."

HBO has picked up your new favorite show to series.

Currently untitled, the Rock 'n' Roll project is an hour-long drama set in 1970s New York that, according to the network, explores "the drug- and sex-fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all through the eyes of a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound."

Terence Winter will act as showrunner, writer and executive producer alongside Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger. Scorsese will also direct the pilot.

Bobby Cannavale will star as Richie Finestra, the founder and president of a record label who undergoes a crisis of character when confronted with a life-altering decision. Olivia Wilde will play Richie's wife, Devon, a former model/actress who is forced to return to her Bohemian lifestyle.

Ray Romano will play Zak Yankovich, the head of promotions at Richie's label, American Century, who has ties to the industry's mob past. Juno Temple will play Jamie Vine, an ambitious and manipulative A&R assistant who is set on breaking through the glass ceiling. Andrew "Dice" Clay will appear as Frank "Buck" Rogers, a cocaine-fueled radio station mogul. Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, James Jagger, Jack Quaid, Birgitte Sorenson, P.J. Byrne, J.C. MacKenzie, Bo Dietl, Armen Garo, Robert Funaro and Joe Caniano also star.
