HBO Developing Miniseries About Dick Cheney

HBO is developing a miniseries about former Vice President Dick Cheney, Deadline reports.

The project will be based on both the novel Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency and the PBS Frontline documentary, The Dark Side, and will date back to Cheney's beginnings as Donald Rumsfeld's protégé in the Nixon administration. Cheney was also the country's youngest chief of staff during the Ford administration and served as Secretary of Defense under President George H.W. Bush before becoming Vice President in 2001.

Julianne Moore to play Sarah Palin in HBO film

According to Deadline, the project will specifically explore Cheney's pursuit of increased power for the office of the president. Rick Cleveland (The West Wing) is writing the miniseries.

News of the project comes weeks after HBO cast Julianne Moore to play another important Republican political figure, Sarah Palin. Moore will star in the HBO film Game Change, which will be directed by Jay Roach.
