HBO has given a pilot order to Aaron Sorkin's new drama, Deadline reports.
Written by The Social Networkscribe, the series will focus on the behind-the-scenes drama of a nightly cable news show. For research, Sorkin spent time on the sets of Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews' MSNBC shows as well as at Fox News and CNN.
The King's Speech tops Oscar nominations
This is the first time Sorkin will be straying from broadcast TV. His previous series include Sports Night, The West Wingand Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
The show will also reunite Sorkin and Scott Rudin, who produced The Social Network. Both will executive produce the project.
