Hayden Panettiere Joins Peta2's List of Real Heroes

For her efforts to stop the slaughter of dolphins in Japan (see related news story), teen queen Hayden Panettiere has been given a Compassion in Action award by peta2, the world's largest youth animal-rights organization. The Heroes actress and five surfers recently paddled into the sea to try to save some of the gentle mammals from boathook-wielding anglers. To no avail, unfortunately, but at least her involvement brought some attention to the animals' plight. — Ben Katner
