She'll play the bumbling superhero
Some actors take a while to book a new gig after leaving a cushy spot on a long-running series, but Hannah Simone is wasting no time! Deadline announced today that Simone has snagged her first post-New Girlrole as the lead in ABC's new reboot of The Greatest American Hero.
This gender-bent reimagining of the 1980s classic will tell the story of Meera (Simone), a 30-year-old woman whose tequila-loving, karaoke-rocking lifestyle doesn't exactly mesh with her traditional Indian-American family. After she's entrusted with a super-suit and tasked with protecting the planet, Meera's life changes forever. Unfortunately, Meera's fun-loving personality doesn't exactly make her anyone's first choice for such an important mission.
Simone proved her comedy chops on New Girl, but this will be her first time taking the lead on a major network series. Her other series credits include NBCs 1600 Penn and the web series H+.
New Girl's final season premieres April 10 at 9:30/8:30c
