Two and a Half Men's current season will be reduced from 24 to 22 episodes, because of Charlie Sheen's stint in rehab last month, The New York Times reports.

"Instead of doing 24 shows this year, we'll be doing 22," series creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre told the Times. "But 22 is a full order. They had asked us to produce two additional episodes, which we normally do. But we won't do it this year."

Charlie Sheen returns to work

Production halted in late February for three weeks when Sheen entered rehab as a "preventive measure," according to his rep. The 44-year-old actor returned to the set of the CBS comedy on March 16.

The show is expected to complete production for the season next month, according to the newspaper.
