For six seasons now we've followed Pretty Little Liars'sAria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Alison (Sasha Pieterse) through being tortured, chased and almost maimed by various villains who wanted to do them harm. We've also seen them cycle through a series of epic romances that have either helped the girls survive their personal hells or broken their hearts more than any "A" ever could.

In celebration of PLL's Season 7 return, we took on the daunting task of ranking the 'ships that have formed over the years. Which one true paring could — or more importantly should — make it to the end game? Check out the list below.

8. Emison — Emily and Alison

We know we're poking a fan bear by putting this 'ship at the bottom of the list — but hear us out. When have Emily and Alison shared a genuine exchange of affection without one of their lives being in danger or for emotional manipulation? Emily has always gone above and beyond for Alison but Alison has played with Emily's feelings too many times for us to trust that she's really falling for our most sensitive Liar.

7. Ezria — Aria and Ezra

Even if you're willing to put aside Ezra's (Ian Harding) hooking up with one of his high school students, it doesn't forgive the fact that he stalked all of the Liars for book research. His pursuit wasn't unintentional either, but a low-down, dirty move that we haven't been able to get over, even with a five-year time jump. Sure, their chemistry is off the charts, but Ezra is extremely sketchy when you lay out the facts.

6. Byrella — Byron and Ella

Parents can make 'ships too! Byron (Chad Lowe) and Ella (Holly Marie Combs) have had their ups and downs. If we were ranking 'ships in the first few seasons of the show, this probably would have tanked, but they've proven almost more than any other couple that there isn't much that can keep them apart.

5. Spoby — Spencer and Toby

Time jumps change everything. Spencer and Toby (Keegan Allen) were pretty perfect together when they went to the same high school and could squeeze in French lessons and Scrabble games between text messages with "A." But they've grown into two people who don't fit together anymore. Spencer has political aspirations in D.C. and Toby wants to be a Rosewood cop. How can they make that work in the long term?

4. Pamily — Paige and Emily

This is another relationship that started out rocky (attempting to drown someone isn't really flirting, Paige), but eventually Paige (Lindsey Shaw) and Emily grew into a loving and committed relationship. They were willing to go to any lengths to protect each other. We know that Paige is returning to Pretty Little Liars in Season 7. Will it just be to reveal how she and Emily officially broke things off or is there a chance she could interrupt whatever is blossoming between Emily and Alison?

3. Mina — Mona and Mike

The truth is that Mona (Janel Parrish) has earned her right to happiness despite the sins of her past. She's flirted around with a few boys, but her relationship with Mike (Cody Christian) felt real and genuine when nothing else about Mona did. It may have gone against girl code to date her friend's little brother, but considering some of the major crimes some of other PLL 'ships, "Mina" is actually a pretty sweet romance.

2. Haleb — Hanna and Caleb

If it weren't for the five year time jump, Hanna and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) would be far and away the best ship. There's no denying that these two have intense chemistry and, at least once, were truly in love — but those flashbacks revealed a lot. Caleb isn't interested in an absentee girlfriend and even if Hanna was willing to turn back for him, would we really want her to give up on her dream for a guy? As painful as it is, "Haleb" may have been better suited for each other as teenagers. We'll have to see how that kiss from the Season 6 finale translates in their normal lives.

1. Spaleb — Spencer and Caleb

Haters are going to hate, but Spencer and Caleb are realistically the best matched couple in the history of Pretty Little Liars. We know that's hard to hear for Haleb fans, but don't forget that Hanna is engaged to someone else. Caleb and Spencer were unexpected, but when you see the two of them together you see why it works. They're both smart, low-key and ridiculously hot together. That may all change when Spencer finds out about the Haleb kiss in the cabin, but this romance in Season 6 was a game well played and we're here for it.

How would you order the 'ship list?
