Thursday's episode of Grey's Anatomy marked the first appearance of Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) in Season 13. There's nothing to worry about, though - her absence was only due to the fact that she was in New York visiting Callie (Sara Ramirez), who is settling in to her gigantic new apartment by "the park." (Do we think this is Prospect Park, since all New York lesbians live in Brooklyn, or Central Park, because two doctors probably belong in Manhattan? Discuss.) And Sofia is loving her new school. So, for those who are wondering, all is well in Callie's off-screen world.
But back at Grey Sloan, Arizona is in for a nasty surprise almost immediately after she steps off the elevator, in the form of DeLuca's (Giacomo Gianniotti) face. Arizona's clearly heard about The Pummeling, but is totally shocked when she sees how bad a shape her roommate is actually in. Also, raise your hand if, like me, you forgot until this very moment that Arizona and DeLuca were roommates.
So is Arizona Team Alex (Justin Chambers) or Team DeLuca? It's hard to say. She gives DeLuca a hug when he offers to move out to alleviate any awkwardness, and lectures Alex about what a boneheaded move it was to go after DeLuca ... but at the end of the day, tells Alex how much she misses having him with her in peds, despite how pissed she is at him.
Alex, for his part, is going stir-crazy in the clinic, where he's administering laxatives and diagnosing sinus infections. But he's not going to complain about it, he promises after a few minutes of complaining, and vows to do whatever he needs to do to get back where he belongs. Something tells me this is going to happen sooner rather than later.
But at least for the time being, he has April (Sarah Drew) to bond with. She's also going stir-crazy, stuck at home with boring baby Harriet all day. It gets so bad that she brings Harriet to the hospital under the guise of visiting Jackson (Jesse Williams) - but it's really just to get him to watch her for a few hours while April sneaks off to spy on surgeries.
In other news, Riggs (Martin Henderson) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) continue to flirt up a storm (#gorked) while Maggie (Kelly McCreary) remains in the dark about their dalliance, and Ben (Jason George) proves himself to be an excellent "bad cop" parent when he shows Tuck photos of DeLuca post-beatdown as a punishment, explaining that bullying people will lead to jail or blindness. Tuck, for the record, has somehow morphed into a teenager. Thanks, three-year time jump!
Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.
