They probably should have read the rules first

There's an exciting new contest headed to Grey's Anatomy and the stakes are high for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and the other brilliant doctors at Grey Sloan.

In this exclusive clip, the animated crew -- who clearly haven't read the rules yet -- hit up April (Sarah Drew) with an onslaught of questions about the Grey Sloan Surgical Innovation Contest, which she happens to be in charge of. Brushing off their concerns about submitting a written proposal, April is quick to point out that they've had plenty of notice.

"It's a brief proposal, it's not gonna kill you," she tells them. "You've known about this contest for weeks. You've had plenty of time." She then begrudgingly explains the rules of the contest which will see the eventual winner receive $5 million in funding for their project.

Her growing agitation didn't stop Jackson (Jesse Williams) from inquiring about whether or not she will be the only judge for the major contest, a question he probably should have known the answer to.

"This is a world-class hospital and a multi-million dollar contest, of course, it's not just me," April adds, losing her patience. "I have assembled an esteemed panel of merited surgeons from Seattle hospitals and I expect you all not to waste our time. So I suggest you get to work instead of asking me questions which are answered by the papers in your hands!"

Now that they've covered the rules, it's time to see who will come out on top.

Watch it all go down when Grey's Anatomy airs Thursday at 8/7c on ABC.
