Horror remake Carrie took the third spot with an even $17 million in its opening weekend. It was followed by Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, which took in $10.1 million in its fourth weekend of release.
Coming in at No. 5 was Escape Plan with $9.8 million. Prisoners and Enough Said followed with $2.1 million and $1.8 million, respectively.

Runner Runner came in at No. 9 with $1.6 million followed by Insidious Chapter 2 with $1.5 million.
