The 57-year-old actor is exiting the USA procedural "due to the uncertainty" of the show's future, according to Variety, who first reported the news. Criminal Intent just wrapped its ninth season on July 6 and has not been renewed by USA.

However, if the Law & Order spin-off does return, USA is likely produce an abbreviated eight-episode final season and hopes to bring back the some of the series' original stars, including Vincent D'Onofrio, according to Deadline. D'Onofrio departed last year after eight seasons.

It is also unclear if Goldblum's onscreen partner, Saffron Burrows, will return should the series be renewed.
Series reps could not be immediately reached for comment.
Goldblum will next be seen in the films The Switch and Morning Glory.
