The Farrelly brothers were no match for Gnomeo and Juliet, Box Office Mojo reports.
The animated take on the classic love story took the top spot in its third week of release, grossing an estimated $14.2 million for a cumulative total of more than $75 million. Hall Pass, the Farrellys' comedy co-starring Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis, came in second in its first weekend with $13.4 million.
Unknown takes President's Day weekend box office
Last week's No. 1 film, Unknown, fell to third place with a haul of $12.4 million. At No. 4, Just Go With Itearned $11.1 million. I Am Number Fourfollowed closely behind in the fifth spot with $11 million.
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never came in at No. 6, grossing $9.2 million. In seventh place, The King's Speech raked in $7.6 million (bringing its total to $114.5 million). Earning $7.5 million, Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son took the eighth spot.
The weekend's other new release, Drive Angrystarring Nicolas Cage, came in ninth with $5.1 million
The Roommaterounded out the top 10, earning $2 million.
