How will fans ever find out who shot Jim?

Days after The Gladeswrapped its fourth season with a major cliff-hanger, A&E has canceled the crime drama, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The Season 4 finale, in which Jim (Matt Passmore) was shot by a mystery assailant an hour before his wedding to Callie (Kiele Sanchez), drew a season-high audience of 3.4 million viewers and 1.1 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic. The drama averaged 2.6 million viewers this season, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news.

Created by Clifton Campbell, The Glades followed a Chicago detective, Jim, who transfers to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Premiering in summer 2010, The Glades was A&E's first original scripted series to make it to a sophomore season.

A&E's other scripted series include the Emmy-nominated Bates Motel, which has already been renewed for a second season, and Longmire. The latter is nearing a renewal for a third season, according to a tweet Thursday from co-creator and executive producer John Coveny.
