Girl Next Door Holly Is Ready for Her Birthday Suit

TVGuide.com: Someone's got a birthday coming up on Sunday, right?
Holly Madison: Yes, I'm actually going to Disneyland with a bunch of Playmates today to celebrate. And on Sunday, we're going to show Moulin Rouge at the mansion and have a dinner night.
TVGuide.com: Will everyone be costumed up for the Moulin Rouge theme?
Holly: Maybe... I don't know. I'm letting people come wearing whatever they want.
TVGuide.com: Or nothing at all.
Holly: Yeah! [Laughs]
TVGuide.com: I understand there's a big "Alaskan adventure" airing on The Girls Next Door this Sunday.
Holly: Yes, and I'm really excited about it because it airs on my birthday and I get to take Bridget and Kendra back to my hometown in Alaska, which is really, really rural and out in the middle of nowhere. It's definitely a change of pace for them.
TVGuide.com: Yeah, Bridget was laughing because it's supposed to be one of the "bigger" cities, but....
Holly: It's tiny!
TVGuide.com: What else is among your favorite moments of the coming season?
Holly: There's an episode that focuses on my work at Playboy Studio West, which follows four different girls from four different parts of the country [trying] out to be Playmates. I think that shows the real me more than any other episode. It shows me at work and it gets behind the sort of girls who come out here.
TVGuide.com: Do you see a common theme as to why these young women would pursue such a dream?
Holly: I think they're all just looking for something exciting in their lives. They're all looking to take that next step and have that next big adventure.
TVGuide.com: In Season 1 you said one big objective was to clear up misconceptions about life at the mansion. Do you see signs that you've accomplished that?
Holly: Absolutely. Our show has a really big female following, and we get a lot of feedback from them. They look up to us because we're in a position where we can pretty much pursue anything we want to do, and they love to see empowered women follow their dreams.
TVGuide.com: You also show that the mansion isn't some "24/7 den of iniquity."
Holly: Right. We're normal people trying to lead normal lives — most of the time.
TVGuide.com: And it's not all about people openly having sex in the middle of hallways.
Holly: No. [Laughs]
TVGuide.com: In between seasons, do you lead your life pretty much the same as when the cameras are running?
Holly: Absolutely. Almost every day there is a moment when I say, "Where are the cameras when you need them?!" Something always happens that needs to be on our show.
TVGuide.com: I ran this next question by Bridget, and I'd like to hear your answer: If you went that way and only that way, which of the other two Girls Next Door, Kendra or Bridget, would you date?
Holly: Um... Probably... neither. [Laughs] I'd probably date a Playmate — but I'm not going to say who, so she doesn't run away from me!
TVGuide.com: What might be in your future once Girls Next Door runs its course?
Holly: Well, we're each hoping to develop a spin-off. I'd love to do a spin-off about my work at the Playboy Studio and the girls that come through there. And some day I'd love to be a mom and have it all!
TVGuide.com: I was reading somewhere that Hugh allegedly asked Jennifer Love Hewitt to pose for Playboy, in light of the headlines she made with those bikini photos....
Holly: You know, they always say, "Hef wants this" and "Hef wants that," but honestly he's not really that involved in the whole "pursuing celebrities" aspect of the magazine. If I asked him this morning [about Love Hewitt], he would have no clue what I was talking about.
TVGuide.com: But what do you think of how she came under fire merely for looking like a normal woman?
Holly: Jennifer Love Hewitt looks awesome, and I don't know why anybody would say she looks fat. Sometimes, when you've got a weekly magazine to put out, you're just looking for material wherever you can find it. Obviously she looks amazing.
TVGuide.com: That said, it probably would be fun to see her in the pages of Playboy.
Holly: Absolutely! She has the perfect body for it.
TVGuide.com: Lastly, what can you tell me about the next film you're involved with, where Anna Faris plays a former Playmate who takes charge of a sorority house?
Holly: It is a really funny script, and it's so perfect for Anna. It's called I Know What Boys Like,and a part of it was shot here at the mansion. A lot of Playmates are in the film, and I'm excited to see it all come together. I play myself, one of her roommates.
TVGuide.com: Did you give her a crash course on mansion life?
Holly: You know what, we didn't. She was very well prepared and had seen Girls Next Door as part of her research. She'd come on set and look exactly like Bridget — it was so funny!
TVGuide.com: One last tease about the upcoming season: What's the sexiest sequence we can look for?
Holly: It's probably the Midsummer Night's Dream party. Everybody's half-naked!
