Every year, we mourn the loss of Gilmore Girls on our TVs -- the rapid banter, the caffeine highs, the junk food movie nights. Even having the old series bingeable on Netflix was a mere bandaid on the gaping wounds to our soul. Fortunately, we'll get some healing now that Netflix is putting a limited series revival of the show is in the works.

TVLine reports that the streaming giant has closed a deal with Warner Bros. for a new string of episodes written by creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino.

Why the Gilmore Girls reunion was better than the movie that's never going to happen.

Negotiations with the cast are just beginning, but expect your favorite ladies Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and Kelly Bishop (naturally) to return for the continuation, along with Scott Patterson. But really, we want to know about Jess (Milo Ventimiglia). He has to return, right? And will big-time movie star Melissa McCarthy be back? This is all very important information! Sadly, Edward Hermann, who played grandfather Richard Gilmore on the series, died in December 2014.

At the moment, the series is looking at four 90-minute episodes, but we can all hope for more.

The news means that we will get the series ending that Amy Sherman-Palladino intended. The cast and creator gathered at ATX festival in June, where Sherman-Palladino made it known that working on Gilmore Girls was the experience of a lifetime.

"There's no way I'm going to top this experience, this cast, these leading ladies here," she said. "It's just not going to happen and that's OK. Some people get lucky and some people don't. And God, I got so lucky."
