George Clooney Slams Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in New Interview

Between his film career, his charity work and his much-rumored dating life, George Clooney is usually too busy to get into feuds with other celebrities. However, in a new interview with Esquiremagazine, Clooney has some fighting words for fellow A-listers Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.

When it comes to DiCaprio, Clooney insults him where it really hurts — his basketball game! Clooney, who played basketball in high school, recalls beating DiCaprio and his friends despite their very spirited smack talking. "The thing about playing [basketball against] Leo is you have all these guys talking sh—," he sayd, instead advising "that you don't talk sh-- unless you can play." In the end, Clooney and his teammates shut out DiCaprio's posse. "'We're all like 50 years old, and we beat them three straight: 11—0, 11—0, 11—0."

The biggest celebrity feuds

Clooney, 52, said the game made him realize how crucial it is to have people who will tell you the truth like, say, if you're not so good at sports. "The discrepancy between their game and how they talked about their game made me think of how important it is to have someone in your life to tell you what's what," Clooney says. "I'm not sure if Leo has someone like that."

Clooney then moved on to Crowe, who had criticized Clooney in a 2005 interview for filming a Spanish TV commercial. Crowe "picked a fight with me. He started it for no reason at all. He put out this thing saying, 'George Clooney, Harrison Ford, and Robert De Niro are sellouts.' And that's when [Crowe] really went off on me," Clooney recalls. "And so I sent him a note going, 'Dude, the only people who succeed when two famous people are fighting is People magazine. What the f--- is wrong with you?'"

The story has a happy ending — sort of? — because Clooney says Crowe eventually reached out to him to apologize. "He sends me a disc of his music and a thing of his poetry," Clooney says. "I think he said, 'I was all misquoted,' and I was like, 'Yeah, yeah. Whatever.'".

Clooney can currently be seen in the big-screen space drama Gravityand next stars in Monument Men, which he also directed.
