The 3D-animated series is produced by Rooster Teeth and follows Earth's last free society on the "losing side of a global war." The society recruits a team of young pilots to fly their giant, weaponized robots known called mechas. Flying these next generation robots comes "at no small cost" for the new recruits.
Tennant — who made quite a villainous name for himself in Marvel's Jessica Jones — will voice Dr. Rufus Weller, a scientist at the Experimental Science Unit and the inventor of the gen:LOCK technology. He's probably very aware of the cost and therefore not the best friend the new pilots are hoping for when they take on their new job.
gen:LOCK will premiere in January 2019 exclusively on Rooster Teeth, available for iOS, Android, Xbox One, Apple TV, and at RoosterTeeth.com with memberships starting at $4.99 a month.
