Exclusive: Garry Marshall Eyes a Return to TV with Fox Project

Three decades after Garry Marshall dominated TV with the likes of Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy, he's just sold a new TV project to Fox with his son Scott Marshall.

The Marshalls are writing and executive producing Golden Guys, a multi-camera family sitcom that is being developed as a script. The show would center on a down-on his-luck guy who was once wealthy but gets caught in a scam and now must move back in with his family.

20th Century Fox TV is the studio, while Prospect Park (with executive producers Paul Frank, Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry) is also producing. It's a reunion of sorts with Fox for Garry Marshall, who served as a judge on the network's 2007 reality competition On the Lot.

Should it go to series, Golden Guys would be the first TV show for Marshall since 1987's Nothing in Common. His successful 1970s run included The Odd Couple, but of course, he's still best known for overseeing Happy Days and its spinoffs. Marshall then went on to a hugely successful film career, as the director of Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries, Beaches and Runaway Bride. Marshall also has an active acting career, having just played the fictional head of CBS on FX's Louie.

Scott Marshall, meanwhile, is also in the family business, having directed the feature Keeping Up With the Steins.
