Game of Thrones Left a Starbucks Cup in a Scene Because It's Clown Hour in Winterfell

No one can see the show anyway, right?

It may be Bad Decision Season on Game of Thrones, but at least everyone's keeping warm with their pumpkin spice lattes.

As if Sunday's episode of the HBO drama wasn't already messy enough, eagle-eyed viewers spotted what seems to be a Starbucks cup on a table in an early scene, as the survivors of the gruesome Battle of Winterfell regrouped over food and drinks -- none of which were meant to come in little coffee cup sleeves. Presumably, that battle really took it out of everyone, including the continuity editors.

In response to what they called a "craft services coffee cup," HBO issued a good-humored statement: "The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea."

Earlier, Hauke Richter, art director for the last four season of Game of Thrones, addressed the uproar in an email to Variety. "Things can get forgotten on set," wrote Richter, who noted that he hadn't yet seen Sunday's episode. He added the coffee cup has been "so blown out of proportion [because] it has not happened with Thrones so far."

The rogue cup appears when Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) glances over at Jon Snow (Kit Harington) as he's praised by Tormund (Kristofer Hivju). Joke's on Jon for not collecting that product placement money, am I right?

Game of Thronesfans on Twitter seized on the apparent mistake, turning the coffee cup into Winterfell's hot new meme.

Anyway, nobody can see the show, so who cares?

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
