Jon is no better than Cersei after this heartless move
Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) might be a mad queen in the making, but at least she's a better pet owner than Jon Snow (Kit Harington). During Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones, the alliance between Jon and Dany began to completely fall apart, and yet Jon thought this was the best time to cut ties with his most faithful ally: Ghost.
Before setting off for King's Landing, Jon asked Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) to take his direwolf and the other Free Folk back to their home in the north. It's possible Jon did this because he was afraid Ghost wouldn't survive another battle (the brave direwolf was pretty wounded following the Battle of Winterfell). Or maybe he did it because he believes he doesn't deserve a direwolf now that he knows he's a Targaryen (although that'd be nonsense since he still has Stark blood from his mother Lyanna). Or maybe he meant it when he said direwolves don't belong in the south and he's worried Ghost would get heatstroke if he didn't make time to give the very good boy a sleek summer cut.
No matter how Jon rationalized it,Game of Thrones fans are rightfully pissed about Jon tossing Ghost aside without even a farewell pet. On Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, we are currently going into Week 13 of an ongoing fight that all started because one of the women gave away her pet dog. Beverly Hills' Puppygate ruptured the cast (possibly irreparably) and has left the fandom divided --- all over a dog that was only on-camera for a few minutes. And yet Game of Thrones completely downplayed Jon giving away Ghost as though it was an afterthought and not a slap in the face to both the direwolf and to the fans.
Game of Thrones Season 8 Complete Coverage
This disrespect was more painful than any lost we experienced in the Battle of Winterfell, so obviously people expressed their anger on social media and gave Ghost the fitting sendoff a hero like him deserves.
me: Jon Snow must sit on The Iron Throne because he's the most thoughtful and caring person in the Seven Kingdoms
