FX is signing up The Americans for another tour of duty. The '80s-set espionage drama has been renewed for a 13-episode second season, FX announced Thursday.

The Americans stars Golden Globe winner Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as Russian KGB spies assigned to live in Washington D.C. and pretend to be a married couple while spying on the U.S. during the Cold War in 1981. The drama premiered to 3.22 million viewers and a 1.57 rating in the adults ages 18 to 49 demographic on Jan. 30. Its most recent episode Wednesday grabbed 1.9 million viewers.

"The Americans has quickly established itself as a key part FX's acclaimed drama line-up," said FX President and General Manager John Landgraf said in a statement. "The show is truly worthy of its widespread critical acclaim and we are confident that its quality will continue to yield a robust and passionate audience."

"We're very grateful to John Landgraf, Nick Grad, Eric Schrier and everyone at FX for their unwavering support of our show," series creator Joe Weisberg said in a statement. "We're thrilled to be able to continue writing stories for such an incredibly talented cast led by Keri, Matthew and Noah. This has been an amazing experience for me and it couldn't have happened without the tireless efforts of our cast and crew.  We appreciate the support of the audience and we believe they have a lot to look forward to the rest of this season."
