John Carroll Lynch and Tammy Blanchard Join FX Pilot Hoke

John Carroll Lynch and Tammy Blanchard will star opposite Paul Giamatti in the FX pilot Hoke, the network announced Friday. John Carroll Lynch and Tammy Blanchard will star opposite Paul Giamatti in the FX pilot Hoke, the network announced Friday.

The dramedy, based on Charles Willeford's novel series, follows the unbalanced homicide detective Hoke Moseley (Giamatti) during a murder investigation and his midlife crisis in early '80s Miami.

Last year's Golden Globes hits and misses

Lynch (Body of Proof) will play Bill Henderson, Hoke's former partner who isn't too happy about the recently diversified department. Blanchard, who most recently recurred on The Big C, will play Loretta Hickey, the mother of a murdered drug addict Hoke meets while investigating.

Also joining the pilot are Oona ChaplinRobert Wisdom and Jordi Molla. Chaplin (Game of Thrones) will play Ellita Sanchez, a recently promoted detective who replaces Bill as Hoke's partner. Wisdom (Nashville) will play Major Brownley, the head of homicide. Molla (Bad Boys II) will play Armando Zuniga, a sociopathic Cuban who begins posing as a famous poet once he arrives in Miami.

Scott Frank wrote and will direct the pilot. He will also serve as co-showrunner with David Manson if Hoke is given a series order. Both Frank and Manson are also executive producers, alongside Giamatti, Dan Carey, Carol Fenelon and Curtis Hanson.
