FX has ordered two new series
Ron Swanson is headed to FX!
John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, announced Friday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that the network has ordered two new series, Devs (starring Nick Offerman) and a new limited series, Shōgun.
Devs tells the story of a young computer engineer, Lily Chan (Sonoya Mizuno). After her boyfriend is murdered, she suspects the culprit is actually a secretive development division of her employer, a cutting-edge tech company based in San Francisco, which spurs her to launch her own investigation into them. Along with Mizuno and Offerman, the series will star Jin Ha, Zach Grenier, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Cailee Spaeny and Alison Pill. The eight-episode series will premiere in 2019.
As for Shōgun, FX has ordered 10 episodes. A limited series set in feudal Japan, Shōgun charts the collision of two ambitious men from different worlds and a mysterious female samurai: John Blackthorne, a risk-taking English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan, a land whose unfamiliar culture will ultimately redefine him; Lord Toranaga, a shrewd, powerful daimyo, at odds with his own dangerous, political rivals; and Lady Mariko, a woman with invaluable skills but dishonorable family ties, who must prove her value and allegiance.
No casting information or expected airdates for Shōgun have been announced.
