FX has ordered a new comedy series from Aussie comedian Jim Jefferies, the network announced Wednesday.
Legit stars Jefferies as a — you guessed it — comedian whose misguided attempts to become legitimate in life are encouraged by his best friend Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) and Steve's brother Billy (D.J. Qualls).
Jefferies co-created the series with Peter O'Fallon (The Riches), both of whom serve as executive producers alongside Rick Cleveland (Nurse Jackie, Mad Men).
"We really love the pilot that Peter and Jim shot," said Nick Grad, executive vice president of original programming for FX. "This is going to be a breakout vehicle for Jim. He has such a unique voice, which is the common trait of any great comedian. It just happens to be spoken with an Australian accent."
Legit joins the growing list of FX's original comedy series, including It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, Archer, Louie, Wilfredand more.
The 13-episode first season is slated to premiere in January 2013.
