Fringe Taps Singer Jill Scott for "Oracle-Like" Role

Fringe has cast singer-actress Jill Scott for an upcoming episode, Entertainment Weekly reports

Scott, 40, will play Simone, who is described as "an incredibly intuitive woman, an oracle-like person" who will help Olivia (Anna Torv) in an early Season 5 episode, according to the magazine.

Fringe's final season is a 13-episode feature film

Scott, best known for tunes like "A Long Walk" and "Cross My Mind", is also known for showing off her acting chops in projects like HBO's The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and the film Why Did I Get Married? She will next appear in the Lifetime remake of Steel Magnolias.

Fringe airs Fridays at 9/8c on Fox.
