Friday Night Lights has recruited Lynn Blackburn for a recurring role in its fifth and final season, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

As first reported by TVGuide.com, a younger, no-nonsense teacher will befriend East Dillon High's newest faculty member, Tami Taylor (Connie Britton). Blackburn's character, Laurel, will help Mrs. Taylor learn to approach the students differently.

Friday Nights Lights  set to end after fifth season

A theater veteran, Blackburn has appeared in productions of Noises Off and Valley of the Dolls in Texas, where Friday Night Lights shoots.

Friday Night Lights' fourth season starts Friday, May 7 at 8/7c on NBC.
