Fox has renewed Empirefor a third season and Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens for Season 2.

The network announced the news Friday at the Television Critics Association winter previews in California. The renewals come less than a week after Empire star Taraji P. Henson won a Golden Globe for playing matriarch Cookie Lyon on the breakout hit. (Scream Queens star Jamie Lee Curtis was also nominated for a Globe, but lost to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Rachel Bloom.)

Much like Murphy's other series, American Horror Story, Season 2 of Scream Queens will shift to a new location and will focus on a different murder mystery. While Season 1 was set on a college campus, the sophomore outing will take place in a hospital "where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation." Murphy has said that a second season of the show would feature just four or five original characters, and casting announcements will be made at a later date, according to Fox.

Empire returns with new episodes on Wednesday, March 30 at 9/8c on Fox.
