Fox Midseason Schedule: American Idol's Final Season, New Girl Returns, Comedies on the Move

American Idol's final season will kick off with a two-night premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 6 and Thursday, Jan. 7, Fox announced Tuesday. Meanwhile, New Girl will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 5, while Sleepy Hollow, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Grandfatheredand The Grinder are all on the move.

Sleepy Hollow will head to Fridays beginning Feb. 5, while Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be part of the Tuesday night comedy block, between Grandfathered and The Grinder.

Empirewill not return from its winter hiatus until March 30. And, Fox's Frankenstein drama has changed its name for the third time, to Second Chance (from The Frankenstein Code and Lookinglass). It will air on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 13.

On Monday, Jan. 4, Fox will air a two-hour competition show called Superhuman. Hosted by Kal Penn, it will put 12 contestants' extraordinary skills to the test.
