An action-adventure drama set in Egypt, Hieroglyph starred Max Brown as a notorious thief who is pulled out of prison to serve the Pharoah (Reece Ritchie). It was written by Travis Beacham and Anna Fricke was hired as showrunner in March.

"Obviously, I'm devastated. But I stand by it. We made something I'd watch and be proud to have my name on," Beacham tweeted Monday night.

Fox canceled the series after subsequent scripts weren't coming together as planned after the pilot.
