On Monday's Season 2 finale of Fox's The Following, Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) got what he had been seeking: a chance to kill Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). But when push — literally — comes to shove, Ryan can't bring himself to pull the trigger and instead has Joe arrested.

In the exclusive behind-the-scenes video below, the show's cast and crew talk about filming the final fight sequence — and tease where the show is heading in Season 3.

The Following's Valorie Curry: "Emma is Joe Carroll's greatest victim"

"When it finally comes to this moment where I have a gun against his head, I make a decision not to kill Joe," Bacon says of his character. "I think in some ways, this finale feels more like an ending than last season. But at the same time, I'm certainly thrilled for a third season. ... I'm so excited to see where it's going to go."

What did you think of the Following finale? Do you think this will really be the last time Ryan sees Joe?
