Bye bye Hot Priest, hello Jopari
HBO's His Dark Materials is now officially up one Hot Priest.
The sure-to-be-epic adaptation of Phillip Pullman's trilogy has tapped Fleabag star Andrew Scott to star in the series as John Parry aka Jopari aka Dr. Sanislaus Grumman, the father of Will Par5y (Amir Wilson), who accidentally traveled to Lyra's (Dafne Keen) world and became a shaman.
His Dark Materials Season 1 Will Include 'Treats' from Later Books
Scott, who is also known for his long-time role as Professor Moriarty on Sherlock, will join the show in its second season, the show's official Twitter page announced on Monday. Judging by the picture accompanying the announcement, he's already getting close to upcoming co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda, who stars as Lee Scorseby.
And if you just so happened to enjoy the whole Hot Priest vs. the Fox dynamic on Fleabag, it's worth noting that in His Dark Materials, Jopari has a dæmon (that is, a human soul taking physical form) named Sayan Kötör who looks like an osprey.
His Dark Materials is expected to premiere this fall on HBO.
