NBC has pushed back the return date for The Event another week, a network rep confirms.

The serialized drama, originally scheduled to resume Feb. 28, will now offer a two-hour episode on Monday, March 7 at 8/7c. After that, the network has nine episodes left to complete Season 1, and the series will retake its original Monday at 9/8c timeslot.

NBC reduces The Cape episode order

The Event replaces midseason addition The Cape, which has struggled in the ratings since its Sunday premiere in early January. On Tuesday, NBC cut back the superhero show's order from 13 to 10 episodes.

The new premiere date was first reported by Entertainment Weekly.

EW also reports that two-time Oscar-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski (Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan) will direct the series' 15th episode.
