Trump is being weirdly not awful about this
Donald Trump, Republican presidential candidate and former owner of the Miss Universe pageant, was uncharacteristically diplomatic about host Steve Harvey's blunder last night.
Steve Harvey announces wrong winner at Miss Universe pageant
Last night, Trump tweeted that the host announcing the wrong winner "would never have happened" if he was still running the show. But during an appearance on the Today show Monday, Trump was more forgiving, saying, "Steve Harvey is a great guy. It was a terrible error. But things happen - it's live television."
He also suggested that Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines both be coronated. "I'd make them a co-winner," he said. "It would be very cool." This is the most reasonable thing Donald Trump has said in years.
Trump sold the pageant to talent agency WME/IMG after his racist campaign comments caused NBC to sever business ties earlier this year.
