Doctor Who Is Headed to the Big Screen

You won't need a TARDIS too meet up with the new Doctor! BBC America announced Thursday that the long-running sci-fi series Doctor Who is headed to the big screen in celebration of Season 8, the first starring Peter Capaldi as the titular Doctor.

BBC America announced Thursday that the long-running sci-fi series Doctor Who is headed to the big screen in celebration of Season 8, the first starring Peter Capaldi as the titular Doctor.

The network, in partnership with Fathom Events, is bringing Whovians two days of theatrical screenings in the U.S. that will also include 15 minutes of bonus content exclusive to cinemagoers.

On Saturday, Aug. 23 at midnight, the feature-length season premiere "Deep Breath" will be screened in 12 cities across the nation. Then on Monday, Aug. 25, the celebration goes nationwide with two showings at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., local time.

But that's not all! BBC America also announced that super Whovian Chris Hardwick will host both a live pre-show and after-show on Aug. 23. Doctor Who: Live Pre-Show begins at 7:30/6:30c. Doctor Who: After Who Live will air following the premiere of Intruders at 11/10c. Both will feature various guests, including writer and actor Mark Gatiss, as well exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
