The universe's baddest creatures are staging a comeback! A new sneak peek at Doctor Who's New Year's Day special teases the return of the show's most iconic villain.

"This is the DNA of the most dangerous creature in the universe," Jodie Whittaker's Time Lord warns in the ominous teaser. Although we don't see what nasty big bad Team TARDIS will be up against, the promo ends with a familiar voice uttering one of the show's most recognizable phrases, "Exterminate!" So yes, it looks like the Daleks will be back!

The special, aptly titled "Resolution," finds the Doctor, Ryan (Tosin Cole), Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) returning home to face a great evil that had been brewing over the course of centuries. Buried on Earth since the ninth century, it will stop at nothing until is gains full control of the planet we call home.

Given what we've already seen of the Daleks' encounters with previous Time Lords, the Doctor and her companions have every reason to be fearful. These genetically-engineered cyborgs have only one goal in mind and that is to kill anything and everything that comes in their path. Responsible for some of the greatest atrocities in the galaxy, this threat is definitely not to be taken lightly.

See how things turn out for Team TARDIS when the Doctor Who New Year's special airs Tuesday, Jan. 1 at 8/7c on BBC America. The show, which was renewed for Season 12, will officially return in early 2020.
