Disney and ABC Television Group are bringing a weekend full of family fun to the World Maker Faire, a unique hybrid science fair/craft festival. Held at the New York Hall of Science in Queens this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 29-30), the event celebrates creativity and innovation through kid-friendly activities with over 500 exhibits.
Disney's presence at the Faire includes a demonstration by Carla Hall, celebrity chef from ABC's The Chew, who will show kids (and their folks) how to prepare a healthy vegetarian quesadilla. Also entertaining for youngsters is an array of crafting attractions such as the Phineas and Ferb kite-designing booth and a sword-making soiree, brought to the tikes by Disney Junior's Jake and the Never Land Pirates. In addition, exposition-goers can go green with Disney XD's human-powered technology game, The Wash Out.
"We applaud and encourage dreamers and thinkers to drive positive changes in the world," says Anne Sweeney, president of Disney/ABC Television Group, adding that the faire is "connects kids and families to the excitement of innovation throughout entertainment, learning and play."
